Whether it’s a vast horizon, a starry night sky or the water’s edge. My images conjure moods of stillness and authenticity.  I believe that splendor is not created, it is uncovered.  I am a life-long southern Californian and have nurtured my pursuit of art by exploring what others may not immediately see.  I am self-taught through the study of icons such as Ansel Adams and Galen Rowell.  I believe in observing the shadows and light and to seize on opportunities to compose, capture and contextualize the world as I see it.  While I prefer black & white (prints), I appreciate when color tells a better story.

Born and raised in southern California, Frank attended the University of Southern California where, after some minor divergences to play and coach volleyball, Frank eventually graduated with a bachelor’s in Civil Engineering with a minor in Architecture.  Although Frank never worked as a structural engineer (he did get offered a job to work on the Space Shuttle program!), Frank did take his education and had a long and successful career in energy efficiency, but his passion has always been photography.  Frank has extensively photographed the landscapes of the southwestern US, enjoying many road trips with his camera gear to visit National Parks, seascapes and other natural wonders.  In recent years, Frank has focused on astro-photography, where he’s been able to combine his other passion (astronomy) to create artistic visions of the universe’s many celestial wonders.

In addition to photography, Frank enjoys road biking, hiking and rock climbing.
